For efficient transfers, it is recommended to format your WD drive to a format compatible with Mac which will be covered further in this tutorial. If you want to delete the original Photos Library to save storage space on your Mac, you can drag it from its original location (the Pictures folder of your home folder) to the Trash. If you use iCloud Photos, designate this library as the System Photo Library.

Wondering whether there is an issue where either M圜loud or Plex alters the Photos library so that you can no longer open it from the application. It just reverts to repairing the library on my Mac Mini (before it would repair the selected library) This even when I try to open library with CMD Option key from the WD device. Now I cannot even repair library as each time I try to do this from Photos it reverts to the system library on my MacMini. In reading previous posts, I selected all photos in the Photos Library and dropped them into a new folder on the WD device. My iCloud is full, but have a 3TB WD M圜loud external device I could move the photos on to. Did this multitude of times but each time restarted was only able to browse a few photos before application would freeze or crash. I have a Mac Mini OS 10.11.4 running Photos app with the photos stored/synced on the iCloud. Initially set up and all seemed to work fine, was able to access library from Photos as well as iOS devices, however after loading up some recent holiday photos, the Application would freeze and/or crash and then suggest that the library needed repairing. OK I have recently encountered the same issue on a DL2100.
